Can I read a copyrighted e-book downloaded from the internet for learning purposes only ?

I really cannot afford the cost of the book, so can I download it and read it.

Or this is illegal ?
@Chuckie O

If i have a local library in my area that provide the books, i wouldn’t have asked the question at all.

  1. Chuckie O Says:

    I download books all the time from my public library. And that is legal. The library has cleared it with the publishers (copyright holders).

    Whether what you are doing is legal or not depends on several details omitted.
