I love to ‘doggie ear’ by books at my favorite passages, and as i am considering buying a kindle or sony reader, i wish to know if i will still be able to do this for any ebooks i would buy.

Yes, my sony ebook reader lets me bookmark multiple pages/books at the same time, and keeps a continue feature. The bookmarks are easily made and erased and are made easy to find. good luck

I own the Kindle 2 and I like it very much. Yes, you can do bookmark, underline, or drop notes on any ebooks you have on the Kindle. Next time you open the book, you can jump to any of the positions that you’ve previously bookmarked. I remember I read this review when I decided to get my Kindle, which also mentions something related:
Between the Kindle and Sony Reader, I’ll vote for the Kindle. There are more books available for the Kindle, and books on the Kindle are cheaper than books on Sony Reader. There is a comparison here between the two ebook readers:
And actually Amazon has recently slashed the price of the Kindle 2, and it is now $60 cheaper than the price when I get it. So it is a good chance if you want one.
Hope it helps

I’ve the Kindle 2. Yes, you can bookmark and mark up on Kindle books, I often do this. Actually, it is really convenient to be able to do everything on the Kindle, without holding a pen or what…
I suggest you to read this review, it is written by a physical book lover like you. It outlines quite a lot of benefits of the Kindle, and why it is worth especially at the end of the review:
Hope this helps.
