Does the in-game editor in Spore (without the Creature Creator installed) look the same as it does with the Creature Creator installed?

Yes! The Creature Creator is the exact same one. The good thing is though that there is an expansion that let’s you add a couple of different parts plus new color palettes. The game also has editors for cells, cars, ships, houses, entertainment centers, factories, air vehicles and spaceships PLUS you can change color of planets and add mountains and hills and a bunch of stuff.
