For all you homemade cosmetic creators out there?

I am trying to start making my own mineral makeup eye shadows. I will most likely be buying all my products from coastalscents.com. I was looking at different formulas, and I was wondering if it would work if I combined only titanium dioxide, sericite, and my pigments and oxides for color. Most formulations have more than that…things such as boron nitrade, kaolin clay, magnesium myristate, etc. Is all of that really necessary, or is it just additives for volume and diffrent sheens? I can’t afford to buy everything, and I don’t want to buy a premade base if it is not truly necessary. Also, I can’t get Coastal Scent’s ebook on creating mineral makeup, because it is $30, which I think is ridiculous for an Ebook. If anyone knows some simple combinations for eyeshadows, that they have tested and know work, it would be super helpful and I would be eternally grateful. = )

i know a great site for makeups, sephora.com, yes it is a makeup company but they have i think 8 make up pictures, and when you click them, they’ll tell you where to put the make-up, and how, also how to use.
or go to borders they have make-up books for under $20
    good luck
