Have Word doc that needs to be a down loadable e book?

I have a 300 page Word document with text boxes, clip art, bullet points and lots of text that I need to convert to a format that can be downloadable as an e-book. PDF does not work.

I went to Mobipocket–affiliated with Amazon-and downloaded their “creator” and my file is totally garbled and unreadable. Mobi has no phone number you can call (they’re in France) and after countless hours we’re at square 1.

The book looks great in print, but how do I or can I put it in a format that will then be available to purchase for instant download after purchase through paypal? I looked into Google but their program requires an ISBN number that costs around $300–I’d rather avoid if possible.

Obviously, I’m an idiot and don’t really know a lot about this area, but with the staggering amount of e-books available I’m thinking it can’t be THAT hard! What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your time and advice.

Use FlashPaper to turn it into a PDF, the way FlashPaper turns files into PDFs is just by taking screenshots of the pages, so nothing will become messed up.

Try getting a copy of Open Office, it is free and the current edition does conversion of documents directly into PDF files without any additional software. I have it and it does work, this might be an answer for you.
