Upload you ebooks to a folder name called ebooks. Protect the folder using userid and password. Once the payment is done through the payment gateway either by paypal or credit card send an email to them with the url to download the book and userid and password. You can use some php script to generate random password also.

Use ftp to tranfer files after purchase onec purchse you can give them the ftp url.
