You have to go to iPod Applications on the sidebar in the iTunes store and click “ebooks.” You have to buy them.
I suggest that you jailbreak your iPod (although you DID pay 10 bucks for firmware 2.0…). Then you can easily download free books or even make your own using .html or .txt files.
