Linux typically installs onto three separate partitions.
A boot partition to get the system going.
A root partition which contains all your programs and data.
A swap partition to be used as swap/virtual memory space.
When you installed windows, chances are you just had it install in the first partition on the drive. You need to go back and re-install windows, and when it gets to the section asking you to choose where to put windows, have it delete all existing partitions and create a new one.
that is what i did and it worked
