Download this to your computer

And then in iTunes goto the app site and look for Stanza and install it on your iPod Touch (its a free app).

Then open the ebook in Stanaza on your computer. And in the stanza menu select Tools > Allow Sharing with the book open.

The open stanza on your iPod and in the library goto shared books. (your wifi must be on). The book will be there, download it.

That is the best way I have found, plus Stanza is a great iPod app. Custom bookmarks, nice catalog system, and direct connection download to the Gutenburg Project where you will find over 25,000 free classic ebooks you can download directly to your iPod.
