How much do eBooks cost for the Amazon Kindle?

I’m thinking of asking my parents for a Kindle for Christmas but if eBooks cost as much as regular books (like, over $10) I don’t think I’d want it.
Also, would I be able to pirate eBooks?

It is cheaper than regular books, so it will save you money in long term.
There are also some website like this one, where you can find more than 20,000 free books for the Kindle. So no need to go to library to borrow them, you can actually own them:
