is it illegal to sell other peoples ebooks?

I was just wondering if it was illegal to sell other peoples ebooks for 50 cents each on a website? I would get the money, they get the ebook, no problem right? I did not pay for the ebooks and that made me think that i shouldn’t sell them, its a continuous sell so it would be copies of the ebook.

you can not sell/resell the work of an author unless you have an agreement with him/her. The fact you obtained the ebook(s) for free does not matter.
