Isn’t an ebook simply a PDF?

What’s all this talk of ebook compilers etc? I’m writing an ebook and getting close to finishing it. I was simply going to convert it to PDF for distribution online although I’ve been hearing alot about these ebook converters.

Can anyone shed some light?

E-books are not nessasry pdf files, they can be in other file formats such as flash and html

Not sure…I dont think they are just a PDF file, I’m sure if you google the converters, you should be able to find a suitable one for you that is either free, or cheap.

This might help you understand it a little better. Have a look at some of the different links here.

Depends on the e-book. A lot of the ones on eBay are. Most commercial ones have a choice on format when you buy it. Some are proprietary. It all depends on what you want.
