My system is Windows 2000. My Microsft word is not readable, its showing figures after downloading an e book and anything readable I want to download. What is happening.Pls Help.

1: upgrade to XP. windows 2000 is the swiss cheese of the OS world: full of holes.
2: most ebooks are in PDF format. open it in adobe.

It’s quite possible that the ebook you downloaded was in fact a virus that has infected your system
Hopefully you have purchased a Security Suite (antivirus, firewall, antispyware, etc) from a RELIABLE vendor (like McAfee) and have it properly configured and automatically updating… if so, you probably would not have been infected…
If you have software from a reliable security vendor… reboot, try forcing an update of the security product, closing out of all open programs, and perform a complete scan of all harddrives.
On the off chance that you corrupted your MS Word installation somehow you can go to add/remove programs, highlight the program, click remove.. and select REPAIR
you must have the Office CD for this (or Word).
Most likely though it’s malware… and either way you will have to reinstall word… you can attempt a web based virus scan from
