I’m writing a “how to” ebook? How long should it a typical ebook be?

I know it depends on the subject and a common answer would be “as long as it needs to be.” I’m planning on selling the ebook for between $7 and $10. It is of course well written and well thought out. I’m nearing completion though and it will probably turn out a bit less than 4000 words. How does this compare with other ebooks of this nature and price?
If this seems low, then it’s possible I could explore adding another chapter or two. Also, I’m writing this in Word and plan to make it a PDF–do I need to change the settings for how much I put on one page or is how it is in Word just fine?
Also any suggestions on doing a money back guarantee vs. not?
How do I publish as an E-book a Word document?

I have a Word Document of about 300 pages, it has text boxes, bullet points, footnotes, page numbers and clip art–all thanks to Word. In print, it looks great.
I want to offer it as an instant downloadable e-book on my website and on Amazon. Amazon refers you to Mobipocket. My document is not readable on this service.
When you write an e-book what program do you use and how do you make it all work? We converted it to a PDF and that did not work either.
This just can’t be this hard, I’m doing something wrong. Short of pulling my hair out–or my husband’s (who doesn’t have much left to begin with) what in the wide wide world of sports can I do to make this seemingly simple task work?
Obviously I don’t want people to be able to print it, or forward it–steal it in other words and I want it to be available instantly after they pay by Paypal.
How do you list ebooks for sale on Amazon?

I have an ebook that I sell on my own website. I wanted to list it on amazon as well and HAVE been successful listing it as a Kindle book. However, I see that amazon also carries pdf’s, which they refer to as “edocs” and I would like to sell my book in that format as well. Unfortunately I have not been able to find out HOW & amazon’s customer service is not helping. Help?
Did you read the question? I said EBOOKS/EDOCS. I list a Kindle book, I list used books … I cannot figure out how to list EDOCS.
