What to do when lost contact with original group creator?
Posted by admin | Filed under Yahoo! Groups
I saw there’s a post about this stating there’s nothing they can do without the original creator. However, my situation is a slightly diff in that I had been promoted to a moderator before we lost contact with the original owner. But I wasn’t granted the right to assign another moderator, or revoke moderator privilege for ppl that are no longer in status. I need the ability to assign new moderate, a public one shared by the person who president the org at current time. Will I be able to send an email or whatever to somewhere in Yahoo to accommodate such situation?
>>>>>> after reviewing the reply on this topic. Looks like there’s no way other than find the original group creator somehow. This really sucks, especially when the group has grown to a substantial size.. I’d vote for other ppl idea to enforce restating active status annually or some sort. If the original group creator doesn’t response the most active moderate has the right to take over control or sth. Otherwise, it’s such a mess.

No. If the original owner promoted you to moderator status and didn’t assign you the privileges, the fact still remains – only the group owner can do this. This applies even if you cannot contact the owner. You can start another group and invite current members to join your new group. That’s about all that can be done in this situation. Sorry!

yahoo will not. even though you’re a moderator, that’s the extent of it w/o the owner. I’m sorry but Yahoo as of yet is undecided on this whole matter of MIA owners. there are 100’s just like you out there
